Playing
in a distant shadow, echoes the thunder of a young musician's dreams,
dreams of expressing his thoughts and feelings of what life is about.
Born
in Buckhead, North Carolina, near Lake Waccamaw, May 9th, 1956, this
Siouan Indian was pre-destined to take to the stage.
Leon
began playing gospel music at a very early age. By playing gospel, Leon
traveled throughout the midlands of North Carolina performing with some
of gospel's finest groups. While still in high school, Leon was asked
to perform for the March of Dimes Telethon (in association with Gary
Collins and Mary Ann Mobley) for three consecutive years. During this
time he began branching out into other styles of music. Leon also performed
with Christie McNichols and Maureen McCormick for other television programs.
Leon
moved to Greenville, South Carolina in 1980 and continued his music
career with various solo appearances at church events, banquets, parties,
beauty pageants and concerts.
Recognized
as a high energy performer, Leon was asked to join a well respected
and much in demand group named Country Gold. After joining Country
Gold, Leon became the center of the bands high energy music selections.
Leon worked with Country Gold for four years, sharing the stage
with many of music's greats such as Ronnie Milsap, Reba McIntire, Exile,
Lee Greenwood, Sawyer Brown, Ray Stevens, T. Graham Brown, Jerry Clower
and many other well known artists.
After
leading Country Gold to the 1984 Wrangler Jeans Country Round-Up
for South Carolina and beating out hundreds of solo and group artists
to perform in Nashville's Grand Ole Opry, Leon decided to go solo to
express uniquely Leon's music.
Leon,
with his self taught music and down south country humor, is more than
able to handle your entertainment needs. By combining 50's music with
today's modern technology, Leon creates his own style of music that
is purely Leon. Generating high energy music with gospel roots, Leon
is a natural on stage for any family entertainment situation.
